About the Artist

Laurel Fate Sullivan is a Koyukon Athabascan artist born and raised in Alaska. She grew up spending her summers at her family’s traditional fish camp on the Yukon River, where they subsistence fish for king salmon and prepare smoked salmon. These experiences on her ancestral homelands inspire her work, along with Alaska’s magical landscapes and her heritage. Art has always been central to her life, and she has been creating since childhood and is mostly self-taught. Laurel graduated from Stanford University in 2024 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Russian Language. Her background in psychology informs her growing interest in exploring themes of mental health, resilience, and human emotion through her art.

Laurel’s work has been featured at the First Alaskans Institute Smokehouse Gala, the MMIP Red Dress Gala, and the Covenant House Alaska Fire and Ice Ball.
